When it comes to ATV tires, there are many choices available, with different models offered by each of the many manufacturers. From different sizes to different materials used and designs which are chosen so they will do especially well on certain terrain types, you will find a lot of variety when you’re looking for ATV tires, so it’s important that you know what you need and in what conditions you’re going to use them.
A new ATV will usually have a set of tires that will do well enough on all sorts of terrains, so you don’t get extremely good performances on any of them. For a new rider, these tires will be OK for most types of terrains, as long as they’re not used in extreme conditions. Using them in places with a lot of mud or sand is usually a bad idea though. The basic tires you get when you buy an ATV are usually trail tires, designed to be used on well known terrain.
Mud treads are the tires designed for ATV’s that go in places with a lot of mud. Their weight is smaller and they are a lot tougher and capable of getting traction than a trail tire. With this type of tire, you can go in terrain that is muddy and you have a very good chance at riding through it to the other end.
The sand tire is another type that you should be aware of. They have paddles on them, which allow them to grab sand that is loose and to get the needed traction on sandy terrains. In some cases, ATV’s use the paddle tires on the back side only, while the tires from the front remain the ones that come with the machine.
Now that you know the types of tires you can buy, you should decide for yourself what you need, based on the type of terrain you plan to use them on.
